Our Mission

Welcome to the home page of one of the most established and successful summer theatre programs for teens in the Washington metropolitan area. Founded in 1967, The Prince George's Summer Teen Theatre (PGSTT) has produced a yearly musical under the guidance of top entertainment and theater professionals. Our Mission is to provide Prince George’s County and its surrounding communities with the following services:

§ To encourage and promote interests in all facets of theater arts and their production through a summer program for all students

§ To provide instruction and knowledge in the various standards and skills of various theatrical arts for the teenaged group.

§ To bring the students and the theater into a closer relationship so that both may benefit.

§ To develop between the student and the theater such programs and productions that will provide an insight into an appreciation of the theater and the theatrical arts.

Students engaged with PGSTT return to the troupe season after season. Many have gone on to college theater programs, including those under the aegis of the Boston Conservatory, the University of Maryland, New York University, Marymount, Manhattan, and Shenandoah University.

Our Organization is a not-for-profit community theater group supported by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. It is sponsored in part by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. PGSTT staffs its shows with a combined army of adult volunteers, parents, and compensated theater professionals with the full depth of on-the-boards entertainment and theatrical production experience. We serve not only cast and crew but our local community as well, which despite heavy professional regional competition for the gate, has reliably filled our seats and just as reliably stood with applause at our curtains.
